Introducing Chris Beck
Chris Beck has been a dedicated champion of Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury since 2009, and his impact continues to ripple across our community. Q: How long have you been involved with HFHWM, and how has your involvement evolved?
A: “I have been involved with HFHWM since 2009. First, helping raise funds via a golf tournament, then moving on to committee work, house builds, and board service. HFHWM has been a tremendous blessing to my family and me.”
Q: What inspired you to join the board of HFHWM?
A: “At the time, I was looking for a new service opportunity close to my home in Franklin, and Habitat for Humanity seemed like a good fit. I felt inspired to use my leadership skills at the board level to help guide the mission and grow the ministry across our service area.”
Q: Do you serve on any HFHWM committees?
A: “Yes. I have served on several committees. The most rewarding for me has been our Development Committee, where you can go and tell the story of Habitat for Humanity to potential donors.”
Q: What do you believe sets Habitat for Humanity apart from other nonprofits?
A: “Our mission is to provide affordable housing. The impact is generational. The positive trajectory change families experience from owning a home is extraordinary. I have seen where our volunteers, our staff, and our families all benefit from being a part of our ministry. This is what sets Habitat for Humanity apart from other nonprofits.”
Q: Can you share a memorable moment from your time volunteering on a Habitat build?
A: “At one of our home dedications, the new homeowner shared that his parents and also his grandparents had never owned a home. This stuck with me on how impactful Habitat for Humanity is to the homeowners we serve.”
Q: What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned from serving on the board?
A: “To listen to all the voices on our Board and our staff. There is so much talent, passion, and desire to make positive impacts in our community. It is a blessing to be a small part of this organization.”
Q: What motivates you to stay involved with Habitat and other organizations in our community?
A: “My faith. To be of service and involved with other people who serve has had a tremendous positive impact on my life.”
Q: What message would you share with someone considering volunteering or donating to Habitat?
A: “Your time, talent, and treasure will make a lasting impact for the families we serve. There are so many ways to get involved and help. Please consider Habitat for Humanity for a volunteer opportunity or a contribution today!”
