Celebrating Our Inaugural Leadership Build

Executives from top companies across Middle Tennessee traded their business attire for hard hats and tool belts during Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury’s (HFHWM) inaugural Leadership Build, held on March 21st in Columbia, TN.

Leaders from Huskey Truss & Building Supply, Atmos Energy, Republic Bank, Jackson National Life Insurance Company, and other local businesses joined forces on the build site to raise the walls of a new Habitat home alongside future homeowner Cynthia, a dedicated mother working toward her dream of homeownership. The event marked a powerful moment of collaboration between the business community and Habitat’s mission to address the growing need for affordable housing in the region.

“It was inspiring to see these leaders step away from the boardroom and onto the build site,” said Kim Randell, CEO of Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury. “Their willingness to build alongside Cynthia sends a strong message—that safe, affordable housing is not just a social issue, but a shared responsibility.”

The Leadership Build gave participants a firsthand look at the impact of Habitat’s homeownership program.

Cynthia, like all Habitat homeowners, is investing hundreds of hours of sweat equity, attending financial education classes, and will purchase her home with an affordable mortgage.

For the executives, the build day offered more than just a service project—it was a meaningful opportunity to connect with peers, give back locally, and be part of a tangible solution to the housing crisis facing so many Middle Tennessee families.
